Two Officers Cleared After Fatal Shooting
Two Midland Police officers have been cleared of any wrongdoing in a fatal shooting that happened earlier this year. The Midland Police Department and Texas Rangers wrapped up their investigation into the shooting that left 34-year-old Christopher Lee Brawley dead after a struggle with officers. Back in May, officers responded to a domestic disturbance call in 5100 block of Ric Drive. Police say Brawley attacked the officers with a two by four. One of the officers was hit and that's when shots were fired. Brawley was shot in the chest and later died at the hospital. Officers James Rex and Officer Mollie Pehl were put on paid leave, which is standard procedure in a police shooting. According to the Midland Reporter Telegram, both officers are back on duty.
