Brazilian Police Film Their Own Deaths
In 2014 the World Cup will be held in Brazil. A lot of money is invested in infrastructure and safety for foreigners. Those taking care of that safety are underpaid and in constant danger. An unknown person is protesting against the low salaries of Brazilian policemen and released this film showing the death of two policemen in a Favela (a shanty town) near Rio (attack occurs at 01:12). Translation of the text in this video is as follows: 1. In clashes with heavily armed gangs, police and fireman risk their lives in the shantytowns (favelas). Their work is not appreciated enough but they continue to do their jobs. 2. When a police officer leaves his home for work he does not know if he will be back. If the officer is killed his family will only receive a pension. How much is the life of a police officer worth? 3. Police officers were patroling in a violent neighborhood. One of them was using eyeglasses with a camera in order to record the events since they already had been targeted with stones. Unfortunately the camera recorded their deaths when they were attacked with gunfire. 4. PEC 300 would provide better salaries and work conditions (PEC 300 is a package of benefits that police and firemen want to be turned into law).
