PC-speak has made the "thank you" the military equivalent of "Have a nice day." Would have been welcome in the 1960s when I had to wear civvies ashore so I wouldn't get spit on. It just sort of rolls off now.

His comments regarding our forefathers envisioning a 'democracy' in America are way off base. Our forefathers did not envision a "Democracy" which literally connotes rule by the 'mob'. Rather they carefully created the US to be a Constitutional Repubic which connotes "RULE BY LAW". Majority rule more often than not usurps the law of the land to rule by fiat or popular opinion rather than by the strict written laws brought into existence by our forefathers to ensure the perpetuation of a free and protected people. FDR threw the Constitution out the window when he cajoed the 'mob' of unwashed Americans to violate the law of the land and illegally commit the US to war with both Japan and Germany. Our 'democracy" has only gotten worse with mob actions that brought us to war with Vietnam and now the Middle East. Ironically, Obama professes to be a teacher of Constitutional Law, but by his every action he spits on the Constitution (as did GWB), and rules by executive decree. Rather than encouraging the American people to thank veterans, they should be begging Veterans to take the lead in restoring our Constitution as the rule of the land.
