I was in the Navy and I can vouch for the "never fall asleep" thingy.

Well they got the guy real good. HOWEVER Falling asleep on duty is a capital offense! Death penalty, That's right. What if he was watching for in coming weapons? Missiles? Planes? Does Pearl Harbor ring a bell. yet I'm sure his duty's are nothing more then some type of clerk typist right?

I used to break smelling salts under the guys noses when they'd fall asleep in the Galley.

This was one of my best pranks I used for people at my front door or just hanging out. Great job!

Not too funny when a soldier falls asleep while on radio watch. I had an E5 that was a real jerk all the time fall asleep at N.T.C. (Ft. Irwin) and laughed my ass off when he had to walk in front of the vehicle until he located the unit that left us behind. The best thing is that I woke up when I heard all of their tanks firing up, I looked back to see the Sgt. sleeping and I did nothing. Pay back is grand! He was an E4 about two months later, for that and another incident in which he was drunk when he showed up for formation. I too was an E4 but did not give him crap since I was being reassigned shortly thereafter I just was happy to get away from his malingering behind.
