I still do not like these flying stunts due to accidents to which we have had a couple this year alone. I lived in Manchester Township where Lakehurst Naval Station is located and where the Hindenburg landed for the last time. When ever they had an air show I would leave town. I did not want to be around GFB if anything were to happen. Although the base had it's own Fire Dept, I was on the First aid squad for the town and also did not want to have to help pull a pilot out of a burning plane nor transport one. It would have killed me inside. Maybe most of you feel this to be selfish and not being a good EMT But with all the death that surrounded us everyday it was tough enough...To have to have a pilot in my rig? I do not know if I could have held back the tears as I did the rest of the time. Adrenalin is one thing that was always there when that alarm went off and got me through some tough days but a few times once home the tears did come. With respect to all who fly for our country from cargo, Fuel tankers, Fighter pilots and all men & women Helicopter pilots who fly dust off to drop and go missions I SALUTE YOU.
