CG Medevacs Woman from Cruise

    The Coast Guard medevaced a 57-year-old woman Wednesday from the Carnival Splendor, a 950-foot cruise ship, approximately 80 miles east of Norfolk. A crewmember contacted Coast Guard watchstanders at approximately 10:45 a.m., reporting the man needed medical assistance. Personnel from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., dispatched crews aboard an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter to assist. The Jayhawk crew arrived on scene at approximately 12:30 p.m., hoisted the man into the helicopter and took him to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
