1st Infantry Division "Big Red One"

The 1st Infantry Division is commonly referred to as "Big Red One." It is the the oldest continuously serving active duty division in the U.S. Army. On June 8, the 1st Infantry Division celebrated 100 continuous years of service to the nation.

    This video is a little misleading. The Big Red One was not the first in Vietnam; it followed both the 1st Marine Division & the 1st Cavalry Division. It was, however, the first INFANTRY DIVISION to deploy to RVN. It doesn't even bother to mention that in 1962-1963, 1st Infantry Division deployed four Task Forces to "Flash Point of the World," West Berlin, Germany in response to the Cold War Crisis.
