am a retired Sergeant Major, I think it's totally unacceptable to ask our Men and Women in uniform to take cuts in compensation. Their is more waste in our Goverment then ever before. We have indiviuals out in our communities that will not work for $10.00 and hour because they are drawing welfare benefits and if they do work they will lose their benefits from welfare ie, medical card, food stamps, housing, and I might add cell phone. Gen Dempsey a welfare recepient has BETTER BENEFITS than any Service Member and Retired Member. I have seen this over and over again. The system is broke and our service Men and Women should not take the hit. Our so called political leaders can do their job and have the moral courage to do what they were sent to Washington to do. "Make tuff calls." not this political correctness stuff. I realize we are living in a different time however, don't take it out on our troops, they deserve more. CSM (R) GE Johnson

How can the Defense Department cut the pay and benefits to active duty men and women of the United States Armed Forces, when they are cutting personnel and leaving less to do more. If it was not for these people where would we be, think about it, they make the sacafrice so that we all can live in a free world, and it is the poor GI that gets to lose benefits first. Cut out money to foregin countries and the pay of the Congress and all other federal departments heads give them a 20% pay cut and see what they say.
