Army Wives Strip to Combat Suicides
Ashley Wise posted a picture of her naked back on Facebook, invited other military wives to share images of themselves, and the organization Battling Bare was born. "Our initial intent was to take Facebook by storm," says Wise. She says, at heart, she simply wanted families to be able to enjoy normal things together like "eating at Chuck E. Cheese's or going to the fireworks." When she spoke to other women and "realized how big the problem is, we knew we had to do something." Now, just two months later, Wise is working with seven other military wives to launch a non-profit organization to raise awareness about PTSD and the impact it has on spouses and children. Most of the time mental health of the soldiers are focused neglecting the health of wives. As an army vet, W. Germany, early 60's, non-combat, it is hard not to be critical of what this stunt does for the tragic suicide rates. Attention getting? Yes, to a point. We must recall that a tiny fraction of one percent of American adults are in uniform, active and reserve.

This is really sad that you all have such bad thoughts about such a good thing. You don't know what is going on in these peoples lives. And until you can walk in there shoes you need to keep your comments to yourself. If you can't give in couragement then just don't say a damm thing......
As a Soldier who's wife submitted a picture and was accepted you people are obviously missing the point. Everyone makes mistakes and you know what all the woman on that page are trying to help their husbands who for one reason or another are not getting the support they need. I know because I am one of these people that have been for three years been getting the run around because no one knows how to treat it except with drugs and I do not believe in that. My drug list they have tried on me would make you elders pill count look sad. There needs to be more done and these woman are helping in anyway they can. The rules of the site are simple for pictures so check out the site before you comment on something you have no clue about or experienced. Why dont you get out and support the Soldiers instead of wanting to bash people that come up with inventive ways to get the word out because as far as I know right now there is no progress yet and I know from personal experience living it daily.

Maybe they should raise awareness in a more perfesional way sure naked backs are appealing but I'm sure some of the husbands wouldent want their wife's flaunting it to support then in fact if that was my wife I would would start asking some serious questions
