I would pit the "bigger threat" on giving the TSA more AUTHORITY. Seems to me that this is just their way of 'slowly' getting the public used to seeing them. So, what happens when they are able to stop non-commercial vehichles in checkpoints? Will they be allowed to search without a WARRANT? My guess is that legally...no, but forcefully...YES.
