The Sukhoi PAK FA is a twin-engine jet fighter being developed by Sukhoi for the Russian Air Force. The Sukhoi T-50 is the prototype for PAK FA. The PAK FA is one of only a handful of stealth jet programs globally. The PAK FA, a fifth generation jet fighter, is intended to be the successor to the MiG-29 and Su-27 in the Russian inventory and serve as the basis of the Sukhoi/HAL FGFA being developed with India. The T-50 prototype performed its first flight 29 January 2010. By 31 August 2010, it had made 17 flights and by mid-November, 40 in total. The second T-50 was to start its flight test by the end of 2010, but this was delayed until March 2011. The Russian Defense Ministry will purchase the first 10 evaluation example aircraft after 2012 and then 60 production standard aircraft after 2016. The first batch of fighters will be delivered with current technology engines. The PAK-FA is expected to have a service life of about 30–35 years. Read more at

Interesting numbering system that Russia has for this stealth fighter...T-50. Someone might think it was a tank.

Glad the Russians benefited so much from the stolen design from the USA. Now if their industry could only match the technology inside the aircraft, they might have a winner. Same comment for the Chinese and their new so-called stealth fighters.

Known fact the Russian and Chinese took technology from that F-117 that crashed in Bosnia/Serbia back in the 90s. Now, to say the new KGB (FSB) has stopped their espionage activities is like saying what Bill CLinton called the "peace dividend" that was the most idiotic statement said by a president because the former USSR fell. Fast forward to today? Putin has not sat on his laurels and he's not a stupid man as the one we have sitting in the White House. Idiotic decisions WILL come back to haunt us in the not so distant future!

Exhaust plumes like the old F-4's. So power plant technology has not advanced??? That alone was so distracting that it is difficult to take the rest of the performance as cutting edge.

I read on internet, that one T-50 caught fire on take off. Only 12 were ordered for delivery in 2016. Putin doesn't have the money to modernize his military, to match Western powers. Let alone keep up with US.

PAK T-50 is 4 times less stealthy than the F-22. It takes more than a piece of a F-117 to copy stealth. The process to build a stealth air craft is pretty technical. It's more than a coat of stealth paint. More Russian aircraft have fallen to US pilots than vise versa. We have 183 F-22's in service. That makes the PAK only 171 behind.
