If the wings are moving faster than the fuselage, it’s a dangerous contraption prone to rough landings: a helicopter. The rumble of helo rotors may sound like music to some, but the folks in this video are having an entirely different experience. Take heart: no deaths occurred in any of the following crashes.

I was in Iraq in 2003. One of the Apache helicopter had a hard landing between 500-800 feet. Both pilots survived, but one has a shattared spine, and the other one is paralyzed from the waist down.

About half of these were mechanical malfunctions. The rest, complete and utter pilot error. Number 7 with the AH-64 Apache was just really stupid pilots and it cost them dearly. Still helicopters, Helos, are the greatest aviation support asset to the various militaries the world has ever seen. Thousands of lives are saved every year by these wonderful aircraft.
