The A-10 is often called-in to save both Army soldiers and Marines on the ground.

Just like the old AD in Nam. If not for the slow, low, precision fly of that old WWII era bird a lot more Viet vets names would be on the Wall.

Nothing more terrifying than a small arms close contact firefight with no close contact air support. I was a LRRP/Ranger in Vietnam. Very grateful for Cobras, Low Birds. A-10s, ARA and any other air support we could get. Life savers for us and life takers for the NVA and VC.

I hope this is a closed issue. It works, it has been and can be upgraded. It goes where it's needed, when it's needed and usually isn't prayed on by current generation fighters or handhelds. The only short coming it has is it's payed for and I'm sure someone would love to make 10's of millions developing a tinker toy.

If and until they find a similar low and slow survivable close air support platform with the ordinance capacity of the A10... There is every reason to keep this flying and supporting our troops.... Period......
