VA Outreach to Guard, Reserve Vets
Week of August 04, 2008
U.S. Senator Daniel K. Akaka (D-HI), Chairman of the Veterans' Affairs Committee, recently held a hearing on VA outreach to veterans of the National Guard and Reserve. The hearing followed the recent press release of an investigative report that found that VA failed to inform tens of thousands of Guard and Reservists returning from Iraq and Afghanistan of benefits they may be eligible for. An audio portion of Senator Akaka's opening statement is available here. The text of Senator Akaka's full opening statement is available at the following link. The witness list and their testimony are available at the following link.
