Post-9/11 GI Bill Hearing Held

The House Committee on Veterans' Affairs Economic Opportunity Subcommittee recently conducted a hearing to review the implementation of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008 (Post-9/11 G.I. Bill). A number of issues were raised by veterans, veteran service organizations, and media entities (including Military.com) concerning problems with former servicemembers receiving their education benefit in a timely manner. In response, Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Shinseki recently authorized issuance of advance payments to veterans enrolled in school who haven?t received their benefits. Prepared testimony and a link to a recording of the hearing are available on the House Committee on Veteran Affairs website.
