Saying "Thank You"

Two of the most powerful words in any language are "thank you." No group of people more richly deserve those simple, heartfelt words of appreciation more than those who served in our armed forces, and those who are still standing watch this very minute.

During National Military Appreciation Month this May, we at Buick, Pontiac and GMC felt strongly that it was important to say "thank you" to those who have sacrificed so much for our country. But, beyond our personal thanks, we recognized that we were in the fortunate position to help others express their appreciation, as well.

So, Buick, Pontiac and GMC dealers across the country are partnering with Shauna Fleming and her A Million Thanks organization ( to do just that. We've placed collection boxes in all of our dealerships and, during May, we are encouraging every American to take the time to write a personal "thank you" to a member of the military. The goal is a million thank you notes, which will be distributed directly to our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines around the world through A Million Thanks.

But, even then, we recognized there was more we can do to honor the sacrifices of our military families. That's why it is such an honor to re-commit the resources of Buick, Pontiac and GMC dealers to further the work of the VFW National Home for Children ( This unique community, located in Eaton Rapids, Michigan, provides a caring home for military families in crisis and we were privileged to bring increased attention to their important work in 2006. We hope to do even more in 2007.

It's the least we can do begin to repay the enormous debt we owe every man and woman who has answered the call of their country. Again, thank you for protecting us all.

John Larson, General Manager Buick-Pontiac-GMC
