Final Reunion for Woman Aviators

Women aviators from different generations recently took part in the final reunion for the original Women Air Force Service Pilots of World War II. Women from across the country assembled to honor the courage and dedication of the pilots, and the formal WASP organization officially disbanded after the reunion since the youngest WASP is now 83 years old. In September 1942, the WASP program was formed to fill the need for stateside aviation duties, and 1,078 women became WASPs. For more information on the WASP, including educational materials, visit the Women Airforce Service Pilots of WWII homepage, Andy's WASP webpages, Texas Woman's University WASP Collection, PBS' The American Experience: "Fly Girls", and the National WASP WWII Museum website.
