The House Committee on Veterans' Affairs Chairman Bob Filner recently conducted a hearing to explore the relationship between medication and veteran suicide. The hearing specifically focused on the dangers posed by certain medications, the possible benefits of the same medications, the recent increase in suicide among servicemembers and veterans, and what initiatives have been implemented by the Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Defense to prevent such deaths. Prepared testimony and a link to the webcast of the hearing are available on the U.S. House Committee on Veterans Affairs website at http://veterans.house.gov/hearings/hearing.aspx?newsid=525.
