The U. S. Coast Guard released a video compilation of its most dramatic rescues of 2007. These harrowing rescues confirm the critical lifesaving role performed by the Coast Guard in service to our nation. Since 1790, the Coast Guard has saved more than 1 million lives, and it continues to execute this mission with unwavering dedication in often extreme conditions and locations.
