VA Encourages Small Businesses

The Department of Veterans' Affairs (VA) in conjunction with the General Services Administration (GSA), encourages veteran-owned small businesses (VOSBs) and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses (SDVOSBs) to consider participating in the Federal Supply Schedules (FSS) Program. The FSS Program is the primary vehicle the Federal Government uses in making purchases for commercially available products and services: medically related products and services at VA, and other products and services through GSA.  Both agencies' FSS Programs are multiple award contracting programs that are open for potential new contractors on a continuing basis. The (http://www.fss.va.gov/) FSS website and (http://www.gsa.gov/portal/category/100611) GSA Schedules website can assist potential contractors in determining if this program is right for them.

Job Hunting? Look Beyond The Pay

When considering adding a non-military job to a family's income, be sure to look beyond the pay to see how the job's benefits can complement a family's complete financial picture. For example, a generous 401(k) match or great vision insurance can be worth more than a slightly higher salary.  For hourly jobs, benefits such as employee discounts can make a huge difference in spending costs.
