Quad-Rotor Micro Air Vehicle Performs 'Precise Aggressive Maneuvers'
From some fertile minds at the University of Pennsylvania's General Robotics, Automation, Sensing and Perception (GRASP) Lab comes the meanest looking quad-rotor micro air vehicle I've ever seen.
DARPA, as well as all the services, are funding research into Micro Air Vehicles, drones small enough to fit in the palm of your hand fitted with sensors that can penetrate deep inside buildings, tunnels, caves and urban canyons searching out the enemy. The Brits use the small 6-inch WASP MAV in Afghanistan. VA Home Loan Still a Good Option in a Bad Economy
More servicemembers and veterans are using their Department of Veterans Affairs home loan guaranty benefit, as VA's loan program remains a strong option in today's housing market. VA is experiencing a significant increase in home loan volume, with more than 162,000 home loan guaranties provided this year, an increase of more than 31 percent over the same period last year. "VA attributes this increase to the favorable terms traditionally offered with VA loans and the elimination of many no-down payment products in the conventional mortgage market," said Secretary of Veterans Affairs Dr. James B. Peake. (http://www.military.com/money/content/pcs-dity-move/va-loan-still-good-option-in-bad-economy.html?ESRC=vr.nl) Read More.

Soldiers' Perspective: The M320 Grenade Launcher
Got a note yesterday from a reader who was wondering what the latest impressions were of the Grip Pod Systems-made M4 Grip Pod -- you know, that forward vertical grip that hides a retractable bipod in its internals.
I will say that it was by far the most popular accessory of its category in the field that I saw. Soldiers generally liked the system and used it not just for a comfortable and stable rest for shooting, but also for keeping their weapon at the ready when not in their hands. It essentially acts as an efficient rest for the weapon when it's not being used. (http://kitup.military.com/2010/06/m4-grip-pod-popular-in-the-field.html#ixzz0pp2XERT9?ESRC=vr.nl) Read More.
