The U.S. Department of Education's Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative offers
free online professional development opportunities for teachers in areas
such as reading, math and science. Now, 32 states and the District
of Columbia give or allow local districts to give teachers credit for
participating in the Teacher-to-Teacher e-Learning digital workshops.
These states are: Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California,
Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Delaware, Florida, Georgia,
Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan,
Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Hampshire,
New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania,
South Dakota, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia and Wyoming.
In order to assist teachers in finding out how they can receive credit
from their state, the Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative has added an interactive
United States map to its professional development site.
Teachers can click on their states to find out more.
There are currently 23 free e-Learning sessions available for teachers
in English/Language
Arts, Math/Science
and Additional
Subjects. Examples of some of the courses offered are:

The e-Learning professional development website is part of the U.S.
Department of Education's Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative, which also
supports teachers through workshops, email updates, and the American
