Spouses to Teachers is a pilot project designed to assist spouses of active duty military in their pursuit of K-12 teaching positions in both public and private schools in the U.S. The pilot states will provide information, counseling and guidance to eligible spouses regarding teacher certification requirements, routes to certification, employment potential, financial assistance, and assistance with employment searches. This web site provides information and links that may be useful for those spouses interested in a teaching career. Limited funding will be provided to eligible spouses to reimburse the cost of tests required for state teacher licensure/certification. Maximum available financial assistance is $250.00 per person.
Eligibility: Spouses of active duty personnel and spouses of members of the Selected Reserve or IRR on extended active duty who posses a valid spouse ID card showing “Active” status.
Participation:
- All spouses are invited to use the Spouses to Teachers web site for information and resources regarding careers in public education
- Spouses interested in teaching in one of the pilot states may contact the appropriate office for information on services available and registration requirements.
- The pilot states are: California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Texas and Virginia
