Free Assessment and Training/Education Resources Available
"NEXStep" is a Department of Labor (DOL) funded program designed to provide eligible military spouses, Department of Defense civilian employees and activated National Guard and Reservists with free assessment and training/education resources so they can successfully enter, or re-enter, the workforce. Individuals enrolled in NEXStep services may find themselves eligible to participate in on-the-job training programs or to receive training funds for occupational training.
You may be eligible to receive NEXStep services if you fall into one of the following categories:
- Spouses of active duty military personnel who:
- Are at least 18 years of age; and,
- Are a U.S. Citizen or have the Right to Work in the United States; and,
- Are in compliance with the Military Selective Service Act, as applicable; and,
- Are unemployed; or
- Are underemployed.
- Department of Defense civilian employees who have received reduction-in-force (RIF) notification or who have been dislocated from their employment and who meet the requirements of a dislocated worker.
- Reserve and National Guard members who have been activated due to terrorist attacks of 9/11/01, as a result of the Iraq war or the War against terrorism and who meet the requirements of a dislocated worker.
