Ode to Obama
Terry Stevens | November 21, 2008

Our founding fathers were a rascally bunch they made up jokes to tell at lunch.
The biggest joke is with us still, and most of the rest are on Capitol Hill.
The joke they left in the Constitution was for an every leap-year evolution.

Presidential voters are smart, keen and shrewd, or fat and lazy, dumb or just crude.
We count the vote, we know the tally, and we leave the last political rally.
Whether smart or cagey or couldn’t read print, we all voted for a new President.

Barak Obama now is in charge and the changes he promised are looming quite large.
But, his wired world is changing, it's coming apart, he's being stripped of his Blackberry Tart. No Email, No surfing, No texting, No Shows, the hackers are waiting to see how it goes.

The convoy of crybabies lining up now, will try for some milk from the taxpayer's cow.
Housing, Financials and auto moguls cry, if we don't get more money, we surely will die.
So Congress, for votes, tried even harder, and dished up more cash from the taxpayers larder.

Past President's say, "You are the law," but most should remember their small faux pas.
Their advice will be sought, from one and from all, but just remember it's a courtesy call.
They'll be our Ambassadors and never be cross; but will they remember they're no longer boss?

News gurus tells us what the new Pres should do, they trot out an expert; some days even two.
They tell us what's wrong, and how to fix it, but they'll jump on Obama like a dog on a biscuit.  National consultants are ready to go they have answers to questions we already know.

The GAO has already published a Report, of Doom and of Gloom and things of that sort.
It talks about troops and improving their lot, and helping all those who were and weren't shot.
Improving our readiness, buying some tanks, does this sound a bit like Republican Planks?

Axis of Evil, old Allies and Friends, will push their agendas, lest the honeymoon ends.
They'll beg, they'll threaten, they'll cry and they'll boast, trying to get the most of the most.
This lot will lie like the dickens, like a wile Fox's promise to guard your prize chickens.

Military leaders, who no longer serve, are telling the Pres what the gays now deserve.
They have all the answers that escaped them last year, when Bush 43 was kicking their rear.
But when they were active, they all ran Pell-Mel to get them a piece of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

Past Secretaries and Ex-Chiefs of Staff are hauling their wares back North from down South.
The advice train is coming right down the track, but none faces forward, it's all looking back.
Don't hurt their feelings, don't yell and don't shout, some of the ex's may just up and pout.

Will Bob Gates stay on, in charge of the war, or is Dick Danzig likely to show him the door?
Obama must change policy, on prisoners of war; and that is according to Robert F. Dorr.
The Military Coalition, all thirty-five are pitching the bills that will help them survive.
What Barry McCaffrey wants Barak to do, is fix Air Force and Navy before he is through.
In concert with Barry, one Air Force Top Guns is poised to ask for significant sums.
But the current SECDEF says that just might bit us, and warns against this "next-war-itis."

Problems are many for the President-Elect; he must now be wondering what the heck's next.
But we all know he'll get good direction, mostly from those who lost the election.
As fires flare around him and as crisis mount, by summer Obama may demand a recount.
