Warrior Wealth, Part 3
Bill FitzPatrick | May 12, 2008

The few, the happy, the rich.

With my apologies to the Marine Corp for modifying one of their slogans, this phrase could indicate the new direction that you take after your military service. Choosing to use your warrior skills can place you among the favored few, the rich, and happy. Here is our mission: to become rich and retired in 20 years or less.

Many people have a problem with being different. But, as a veteran, you’re already different — a good different, you’re part of an elite brotherhood. And, when you become rich, you’ll be among the elite of accomplished businessmen.

Most average people will never know what it’s like to be a veteran and endure several extended deployments. This is OK. You don’t need them. You have you and others like you. Most business people aren’t willing to take the risks and endure the extra hours of work to become rich. This is OK.

The secrets to success aren’t secret. If you want to be an elite Soldier, Sailor, Airmen or Marine, there are many books and blogs detailing the day-to-day adventure. If you want to be rich, there are many books by billionaires, such as Donald Trump and Warren Buffet, detailing their accomplishments.

Find wealthy people. Study them. Decide if you want to be like them. Start doing what they are doing or not. But, be happy with your decision.

There is a clear, direct path to mission accomplishment and being rich and retired in 20 years or less. Here it is:

Most people work half the time they are at work. You work all the time.

Most people work 40 hours a week. You work 20 percent longer, 50 hours.

Use the extra 20 percent of income to invest in six real estate properties.

Pay off your 20-year mortgages. Love your tenants for helping you.

In turn, you and your family will become wealthy.

You have served our country with honor. You deserve a good life. With your warrior skills, you can do it all. So, I hope you do it.
