Associated Press | Aug 29, 2012

PHILADELPHIA - Wonder Woman and Superman are an item, locking lips in a passionate embrace as the pair realize that there's no one out there like them. The couple's kiss is the culmination of a dramatic story in "Justice League" No. 12, which marks the first full year since DC relaunched its stable of heroes with new stories, new costumes and revised origins. DC Comics co-publisher Jim Lee, who has drawn each issue of "Justice League" since its debut, called the canoodling in Wednesday's issue not a stunt or an alternate reality smooch. "This has been in the works for some time and we certainly wouldn't have pulled the trigger on withou... more

J.R. Martinez on His Book, Baby and Beliefs

Chattanooga Times - Free Press | Jun 04, 2012

J.R. Martinez said he was up during the wee hours of the morning for most of May, but it's not the fault of his new infant daughter, Lauryn Anabelle. "The deadline for my book was June 1," said the "Dancing With the Stars" champ. "I found myself up at 3 (o'clock) in the morning writing. It's a memoir about my life and everything I've experienced. I will talk about 'Dancing' in it, but it's not a tell-all. " Martinez's book, "Full of Heart: My Story of Survival, Strength and Spirit," is due to be released in November by Hyperion. However, guests at this month's Dancing With the Stars Chattanooga just might be privy to an excerpt or two wh... more

"All I ever wanted to do was win," Smoltz tells us on the second page of his recently released book, "Starting and Closing," written with Don Yaeger. Smoltz won plenty as a major leaguer pitcher, but he also saved a lot of wins for others, and Friday night at Turner Field he became the third of Atlanta's Big Three pitchers of the 1990s to have his number retired. No. 29 w... more

Publisher Releases Sexed-Up Editions of Classics

Associated Press | Jul 20, 2012

NEW YORK - Now we know how Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson really felt about each other.  British e-publisher Clandestine Classics is releasing sexed-up editions of Sherlock Holmes, "Pride and Prejudice" and other classics, with erotic passages woven into the traditional texts. That means Mr. Darcy "buried inside the depths" of Elizabeth Bennet in "Pride and Prejudice" and Dr. Watson declaring his "joy of knowing other men."  Clandestine managing director Claire Siemaszkiewicz (sih-MASS'-kuh-wihtz) says she has always been drawn to "the underlying sexual tension" in older novels. The new editions were started before the "Fifty Shades" phe... more

Associated Press | Aug 16, 2012

NEW YORK - You've bought rope for that special someone, picked up a few sex toys and read those "Fifty Shades of Grey" books a time or three. You know who you are. Well, no need to skulk about at naughty shops or the hardware store as Fifty Shades of Consumption makes it further into the mainstream. Stuart Weitzman and Marc New York have Grey-struck campaigns in the fat September issues of fashion magazines, the former touting black stilettos and high, Anastasia Steele-worthy boots called "Fifty Fifty," named not for the blockbuster bondage books but equal parts leather and stretch. "Stuart has always known that people just think shoes.... more
