MIAMI - The Coast Guard re-opened the Miami River to all vessel traffic following diesal fuel clean-up efforts were completed near the motor vessel Titan Express.
Titan Express was reportedly engaged in fueling operations at the pier when diesel fuel spilled into the water and onto the deck of the ship. Boom was placed around the ship to contain approximately 200 gallons of spilled fuel and contractors completed additional clean-up efforts.
An anonymous source contacted search and rescue watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Miami Command Center after seeing a sheen on the surface of the water near the Antiloean Facility Pier, on the Miami River, where the 256-foot vessel is moored.
The cause of the spill is under investigation.
