CG Medevacs Injured Boater

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - A Coast Guard rescue crew aboard a 25-foot response boat from Coast Guard Station Wrightsville Beach, N.C., medevaced an injured man from a 28-foot sailing vessel in the Intracoastal Waterway 12 miles north of Wrightsville Beach.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Oak Island, N.C., received a call at 12:42 p.m. from Michael Flynn, the owner/operator of the Trinity, stating that he was suffering from serious burns from hot antifreeze.

The rescue crew arrived on-scene at 1 p.m. and transported Flynn to the docks near the bridge on Figure Eight Island, where awaiting EMS personnel transported him to Cape Fear Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, N.C.
