CG Locates Rescues Missing Man

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - A Coast Guard helicopter crew located and rescued a missing 78-year-old man in Galloway Township, N.J., near Scotts Landing.

Rescued was Robert H. Williams of Galloway Township. 

The Coast Guard received a call at about 3 p.m. from a member of the Galloway Township Police Department requesting Coast Guard aerial assistance.

The man had reportedly been missing since Tuesday evening.  After receiving a request by local authorities, the Coast Guard conducted a helicopter search Tuesday evening, with negative results.

A rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City was diverted from a training flight today to conduct a second search of the area.

The man was located by the aircrew and hoisted into the helicopter. He was flown to Coast Guard Station Atlantic City and transferred to awaiting emergency personnel from AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.

Members of the Cape May County Sheriff's Department K-9 unit, Oceanville Fire Department, Absecon Police Department and the Galloway Township Police Department were also searching for the man.
