CG, Guard to Train in Chemical Response

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Coast Guard and the Florida National Guard's 44th Civil Support Team will take part in a joint training exercise aboard Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville located in Mayport, Fla.

The purpose of the exercise is to provide essential training to both Florida National Guardsmen and Guardians to be prepared to respond to a chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear (CBRN) situation in a maritime environment.  As part of the training, the 44th CST will provide the Coast Guard with classroom training focused on medical issues in a CBRN situation.  In addition, the Coast Guard, utilizing the 87-foot Coast Guard Cutter Kingfisher and the 175-foot Coast Guard Cutter Maria Bray, will provide the 44th CST with training on how to board a maritime vessel under CBRN conditions.
