Veterans Employment Bills Pass

Two bills addressing veteran employment -- H.R. 1170 and H.R. 1088 -- have been approved in the House and are moving to the Senate. H.R. 1170, would give would give the Office of Special Counsel responsibility for investigation and prosecution of cases of employment & re-employment rights violations made by federal agencies. This bill also allows for $200,000 to be used in grants to encourage development of technologies to make home life easier for severely disabled veterans. Read the text of H.R. 1170. HR 1088 would require state employees assigned to duties such as Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Specialists and Local Veterans' Employment Specialists to attend training sessions within one year of receiving the position.
