Although the TriWest was awarded the TRICARE West Region contract in 2009, TRICARE Management Activity decided to reopen the bidding to the original competitors. As a result the TMA procurement team opted to void the TRICARE West Region contract with Triwest and award it to UnitedHealth Military & Veterans Services. According to the DoD the instant obligation on the contract is $10,000,000 and the total potential contract value is estimated at $20,462,202,594.
