Traumatic Injury Protection Improved
Week of December 15, 2008
More troops may now qualify for benefits under Traumatic Injury Protection Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (TSGLI) due to newly expanded coverage. Existing TSGLI qualifying loss definitions were expanded and additional qualifying losses were added, including uniplegia (the complete and irreversible paralysis of one limb), limb salvage, facial reconstruction, and a 15-day hospital stay. Servicemembers that already submitted a claim in the past do not need to resubmit. Notifications will be sent to the servicemember if an additional award is due. For more information including a TSGLI points-of-contact list by branches of service, visit the Department of Veterans Affairs TSGLI webpage. To learn more, read the full article on Military.com.
