Traumatic Brain Injury Awareness

March is Traumatic Brain Injury Awareness Month. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) occurs when the head is hit or violently shaken. Symptoms of a traumatic brain injury include blurred vision, headaches, ringing in the ears, irritability, trouble with memory, attention or concentration and slowed thinking, as well as feeling easily confused; symptoms that can remain with an individual for decades, or not manifest until they age. For more information on TBI, visit the Army Medicine website, the Defense Centers of Excellence website, the Military Health System website, the Deployment Health Clinical Center website and TraumaticBrainInjury.com.
