Rules for Saluting the Flag Clarified

In 2008 an amendment was passed to allow un-uniformed servicemembers, military retirees, and veterans to render a hand salute during the hoisting, lowering, or passing of the U.S. flag. In 2009 a second amendment authorized un-uniformed servicemembers, military retirees, and veterans to render hand-salutes during playing of the national anthem. Read more at Military.com.
