Prepping for PRT this Fall
Week of September 04, 2009
Many Sailors are gearing up for the Physical Readiness Test (PRT) fall cycle. Leaders at the National Naval Medical Center (NNMC) are reminding servicemembers that a healthy diet and getting adequate exercise will keep Sailors fit throughout the year. Sailors are also encouraged to avoid taking drastic measures to meet exam standards such as taking over-the-counter weight loss pills and programs, going on restrictive diets and even using laxatives and diuretics to lose weight before the weigh-in. Though these drugs are considered "food supplements," they can still be dangerous. Before anyone consumes an over-the-counter drug, they should always consult their doctor.
