Preparing for Shipping Your Vehicle

Shipping your privately owned vehicle (POV) to a new duty station takes advanced planning and preparation. Your first stop is the personal property office (PPO) at your installation. Determine which vehicle processing center (VPC) you will use and what paperwork and preparation is required. The Department of Defense pamphlet "Shipping Your POV" provides a list of VPC's in the U.S.and overseas, plus detailed requirements for shipping your POV. Your vehicle should have less than one quarter of a tank of gas, be clean, and in good condition. You can track the progress of your POV shipment at the American Auto Logistics website.
