Parents' Survival Guide for First Week of School

Here are some back-to-school tips for parents: (1) clear your schedule to be free to help your child acclimate to the school routine; (2) make lunches the night before school; (3) set alarm clocks; (4) leave plenty of extra time for your child to get up, eat breakfast and get to school every day; (5) review with your children daily what they will do when they get home after school, especially if you are not there; (6) review your child's schoolbooks; (7) send a brief, introductory note to your child's teacher letting the teacher know that you are interested in getting regular feedback; (8) familiarize yourself with the other school professionals; and (9) communicate to your child your enthusiasm for learning.
