Servicemembers seeking help for deployment-related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) now have the option of being treated through primary care channels at a new pilot program offered at two medical centers Texas. The most effective treatment for PTSD is cognitive-behavioral therapy. With research conducted by the South Texas Research Organizational Network Guiding Studies on Trauma and Resilience (STRONG STAR) doctors at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas and at Brooke Army Medical Centers in San Antonio, have been able to launch the initial study and treatment of this kind.
