A new expansion of a federal program allows medically retired veterans who served less than 20 years to receive Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC) benefits. CRSC is awarded by the branch of service that the veteran retired from, not the VA. Medically retired veterans must still provide documentation that shows a causal link between a current VA disability and a combat-related event. For more information, visit Military.com's Combat-Related Special Compensation webpage.
