New Pet Policy on Okinawa

The 18th Wing, U.S. Air Force and Marine Corps Installations Pacific recently released the Department of Defense's joint service pet policy for all military family housing on Okinawa. All pet owners residing in military family housing must comply with the policy by July 11. The policy states that two domestic pets, (cats, dogs or a combination) are permitted in single-dwelling units, duplexes and multiplex units. The policy also restricts certain breeds from dwelling in military family housing. All owners are required to register their pets with the base veterinary treatment facility and military family housing via the pet registration form. For more information on the policy, contact your base housing office. The new policy is available online.
