Navy Recognizes Women Who Serve

The Navy will pay tribute to military and civilian women serving in the Navy during Women's History Month in March. The national theme this year is "Writing Women Back into History." Throughout the U.S. Navy's 234 years' of history, its female sailors have steadily integrated into jobs that were once opened only to males. For more information on women serving in the Navy, including educational resources, visit the Naval History and Heritage Command's Women in the U.S. Navy website at http://www.history.navy.mil/faqs/faq48-1.htm and the Public Broadcasting Service's Women in the Navy webpage at chronology at http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/navy/plus/cron.html.
