Retirement-eligible U.S. Navy officers in the ranks of commander and captain with not less than two years time-in-grade may request a waiver and voluntary retirement-in-grade. This authority applies to all retirement-eligible, active component and reserve component officers and doesn't affect the pay computation of the retiring officer. For more information on active-component commander and captain retirement procedures, contact COMNAVPERSCOM PERS-822 (Officer Retirements), at (901) 874-3180/3183/DSN 882. Questions on reserve-component commander and captain retirement procedures should be addressed to COMNAVPERSCOM PERS-91B, at (901) 874-4482/4483/DSN 882.
