Navy Offers Stress Control Training
Week of December 01, 2008
All hands operational stress control (OSC) training, which aims to teach Sailors how to recognize signs and symptoms of stress in themselves and others and how to manage operational stress, has started in the fleet. The Navy continues to develop a formalized curriculum to deliver the training at all levels throughout the Navy. Other stress management tools include: the Leader's Guide for Managing Personnel in Distress webpage; the Navy Systematic Stress Management Program webpage; the Military OneSource hot line 1-800-342-9647 and the Military OneSource website; the Navy Suicide Prevention Program website; the Navy's Operational Stress Control webpage; the 2009 Professional Development Training Course website. Chaplains, medical personnel and mental health professionals can also assist leaders in operational stress control.
