The chief of naval personnel announced that a selective early release from active-duty (SERAD) board for full-time support (FTS) commanders, and a selective retention board for FTS captains, will convene Aug.10, 2009. The SERAD board will consider commanders in the promotion year groups of FY05 and FY06 for mandatory retirement at 20 years of active service. Officers selected for early release from active duty will be required to retire by September 2010 or when they reach 20 years of active service, whichever is later.
