The window for Marines to cash in on their new contracts is closing. For some Marines, re-enlisting before the start of the new fiscal year will prove more beneficial. For others, waiting until after Oct. 1 will mean a higher bonus. For example, a lance corporal rifleman will receive $36,000 if he re-enlists before Sept. 30, but if he waits until after Oct. 1, he will only rate $29,000. For a complete list of re-enlistment bonuses, refer to Marine Administrative Message 370/08, which can be found on Marines.mil or contact your unit career retention specialist.
