A Korean War Memorial will be dedicated on Monday, Aug. 1, at the Presidio in San Francisco. The dedication ceremony will run 10 a.m. to noon. The memorial will stand on high ground adjacent to the national cemetery facing west across the Pacific Ocean toward Korea. The spot was chosen because it was the embankment point for servicemembers who fought in the Korean War, and represented the end of the journey for those returning home.
