Kid's Deployment Show Nominated for Emmy
Week of August 06, 2007
The television special "When Parents Are Deployed" has been nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Children's Program. The program looks closely at challenges military families face when a parent is deployed. The primetime special, hosted by actor Cuba Gooding Jr., evolved from the Sesame Workshop's initial outreach initiative, "Talk, Listen, Connect: Helping Families During Military Deployment," a DVD distributed to military families with the help of Wal-Mart and MilitaryOneSource. The entire program can be watched or downloaded at the "When Parents are Deployed" website.
