Columbia University School of General Studies, founded in 1947 in response to military veterans returning from World War II, will provide eligible student-veterans with a 50 percent tuition waiver beginning August 1 through the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program, part of the post-9/11 GI Bill. After the matching grant is provided by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the entire cost of education is expected to be covered.
